@dinesh to achieve an infinite scroll feeling you need two things: skills, and that flow: javascript scroll event triggers ajax request when close to end of scrollable element, server responds with html string, callable receives response and appends it to your dom.

that is, if I did not horribly misunderstood what you say.

Also please note that infinite scroll is a horrible user experience

Yeah, that's right. But, I'm planing to throw in vldpersonals on one domain and see how it goes. I've got the marketing (hardest part) worked out, but the codebase for that software is horrible.

Well, looking at the code makes it much more trivial to find security issues (if you own the code). When you hire a consulting shop, there's the typical NDA stuff going on anyway.

If you want to GET something and then break after the headers and check the Content-Length if it's there, I guess that works

Yep, straight out of the spec: The HEAD method is identical to GET except that the server MUST NOT return a message-body in the response.

I don't trust HEAD because so much content comes through servlets with method-specific route handling

That's why you can just ignore that service, because it doesn't follow the spec! Ha ha! Idealism! :(

Also there's still no guarantee that you can determine the content length from the headers

if you want to impose a limit on how much data you will transfer, it's better to just stop transferring data after that cut-off

Can you make artax bail out after reading a certain amount? If not, you might need to do some trickery, like delegating to separate service workers in another process
