@AndrasDeak his channel is a great ways to see a little bit what is going on in DL for image processing stuff

I find it pretty sad that the only real use case for deep learning so far is making fake videos

That is not true, it is also great for playing buzzword bingo!

But to be serious, it seems a lot of the research going on is not so much about useful applications but really just finding neat stuff and then constructing a problem what they have found is a solution to.

note "constructing", not "finding" ;)
