I want to implement the following function in Matlab for optimization:
I know that when defining an anonymous function, I can access the different elements of a vector x using x(1), x(2) and so on.
But how can I combine this with the summation?
In matlab, I repeatedly encounter this error message.
My code does not have large loop number, instead includes a lot of short loop, say

As the comments suggest, you need to use a file descriptor, which is what the Matlab code is doing:
