Pokémon was beaten in 60 seconds thanks to a glitch which allowed going deeper than the game intends into the inventory, so that the items you see are actually RAM values. TASers then switch some values (for example by dropping an object, setting the value to 0) so as to manipulate the game into executing the end-game code sooner.

Took 15 years or so to find a way to do it in such a quick time

@Kyll I agree that it is sufficient, it just isn't good user-focused UI. The fact that a user-closing needs to send a custom flag is not easily discoverable from the user's perspective. To know that is the right choice requires that the user-closing knows that in advance and does not let a consensus be shown that it is the reason that question should be closed. It also does not provide good information to the question's OP.
