@FirstStep Here is the help on the topic. As I see it, to avoid plagiarism two things need to be done: a) clearly indicating the source of the material that has been borrowed b) clearly quoting what is being borrowed. If either of the two are missing, then that's plagiarism. In the case at hand here, the author said they've put a link. Okay, but they have not quoted.

For example, parsing 09-22-2016 02:00:00 with YYYY, gives a date in 2015 as the first week of 2016 (dec 27). It's like it ignores the day and month.

The solution is to use yyyy in the pattern instead of YYYY and I can explain what the YYYY result is but I can't explain how the SimpleDateFormat decided to use only the year part of the string (or used it last and thus overwrote everything else, or whatever it is).
