@Makyen I installed alpha release of CVRG script and seen undel-pls link available for deleted Q/A marked as spam or R/A, is that behavior by design? Should undelete request link be hidden for posts like those?

@TetsuyaYamamoto It, currently, only looks at the open/closed/deleted/undeleted status wrt the text that is used for the button to open the request dialog. The default request type is set upon open, but the user can select whatever is available in the drop-down list. For example, perhaps you want to set a revisit for a post that was deleted as spam to check to see if it's been undeleted, or the spam flags cleared, in response to a mod-flag you raised (that's an actual example of how I've used it).

The validation of the request is done while the request reason is being entered (you'll see warnings/information and/or errors) and upon clicking send/save. You will have to confirm to send if there were warnings. Errors will prevent sending. That validation does not currently take into account that a post was deleted by the Community user and/or a moderator. It would be reasonable for it to do so, as an undel-pls request on such a post would have no way to be

effective (i.e. other users couldn't act on it). So, yes, there should be some text under the post as the button to open the dialog. It may be desireable to have it show something other than undel-pls.

I've put adding returning an error from validation for undl-pls requests on posts deleted by the Community user or moderators on the to-do list.

@TetsuyaYamamoto The script doesn't, currently, treat them differently. Treating them differently is up to the user. The script doesn't send requests, except at the user's direction. The user is expected to exercise judgement in their actions. The purpose of validating requests isn't to be an exhaustive check on what's permitted, or not permitted. It is intended to remind users of issues which they may not have noticed and prevent a limited set of actions which are known to not be acceptable/useful.

It's reasonable for the script to not permit sending of a post that's been deleted by the Community user as spam/R/A, or deleted by a moderator. I've added including a check for that to the to-do list.

@tripleee For questions it does: cv-pls; del-pls; reopen-pls; undel-pls; "revisit (in 2 days)"; "revisit (in 11 days)"; "revisit (in N days)"; reflag VLQ; flag-pls spam; flag-pls offensive; !!/report; !!/scan; !!/rmblu; and !!/reportuser (currently it also shows reflag NAA on Q, but that's a bug (fixed)). For answers it does all of those except cv-pls and reopen-pls (reflag NAA isn't a bug on answers). For suggested edits it does: review-pls.

I just rejected a edit suggestion, but the edit suggestion popped right back up after being rejected, with the same timestamp, and identical (as far as I can tell) to the original edit suggestion. Unchecking the box in options fixes the issue; I guess that's what you mean by "settings have been reset"

You will be able to (not currently implemented) install chrome browser extensions such as TamperMonkey or what-not. At the same time I'm going to create a sort of "native script injector" which will allow you to install scripts that modify the UI, add browsers to the set, etc., as well as intercepting requests and such. Basically you will have complete control over everything

@rene Sure, you've established a good and efficient protocol that already was adopted for other sites, you and the crew have established a bunch of useful tools. Re-usability of software is a big concern and you did a fairly good job about that. Here in bavaria we usually say: "Not grumbled is already enough lauded", but that was seriously worth a lauder ;-)

If this is about misusing this to earn flagging badges, don't worry, I already earned the Marshal badge a while ago from organic flagging before joining the crew here.

No one's ever complained about it, including multiple ROs, as long as the requests are legitimate.

@gparyani flooding cv-pls is not okay, so spread them out and keep in mind that we request that for every cv-pls you close vote 5 other questions. As you can't close vote yet you have to rely on other regulars to cast their close votes on your behalf. Please be considerate when relying on their limited resources.

I generally refrain from posting requests here unless they're on the verge of being dismissed as "Looks OK" or "Requires Editing" in Triage.

Ah, triage. I have some hard feelings about it. I don't think even after the change it got any better - I just got back into the H & I queue the other day and saw crap that was worse than the original crap that I was complaining about in the first place.

Also, if Triage marks a question as "Looks OK" or "Requires Editing", it disputes any close flags on them and starts aging close votes, even though they may be valid.

Unfortunately they need to rewrite their code base to fix that. No one working there actually knows how the whole system works and all the original coders are gone. It's really ironic

@K.Dᴀᴠɪs That's a bit harsh for a first offense. IMO, it's much better to try education first. Keep in mind that, for years, the instructions explicitly stated that "requires editing" included edits from the OP. So, people are largely doing what they were instructed to do. It's not their fault that they don't know the instructions changed, when it hasn't been brought to their attention.

@Makyen And a 1 day review ban really isn't that harsh. I was review banned for something that was later actually decided I was correct in my response. Now that's harsh xD

In this case, the review ban system is also the warning system. It's not uncommon for a user to get a 1- or 2-day review ban just to get their attention on a bad review. Moderators generally don't use the mod message system for reviews. — animuson ♦ Oct 27 at 16:45

@gparyani I understand that. However, I consider it inappropriate to penalize people for doing exactly what they were told, for years, to do. This is a systemic problem. You don't solve that by penalizing your volunteers for doing exactly what you had been saying to do. It's also not reasonable to believe that people will see the change to the instructions when the text is A) behind a click-to-open, and B) people don't re-read instructions for things they've been doing for a long time.

Sure, once some effort is put into education, a penalty is appropriate, if people continue to perform the action contrary to what they're now instructed to do.

Oh this is awesome. I've set the browser overflow library up using type verified event emitting attributes. All of the events bubble up to the top element, such that you can listen to get, set, and verify events from the lowest level on the main instance and respond as required. Nuts.
