And people not reading questions as careful as they should is not exactly new on SO. :)

I was also sensitive to the fact that my post had to look entirely self serving...

I guess in the end it does not matter too much, there are bigger problems on SO.

I would hope that the quality of the product was up there in importance.

But as I said, I agree with the basic idea, more than half of my declined post flags come from stuff I flagged because i thought is was a request for clarification.

@MikelF Hopefully, up- and downvotes do handle that most of the time.

@BaummitAugen Sorry, I no way intended to! And there are other cases, too. Just note that it was not only the Jewish who were killed. Add the disabled, homosexual, kommunists, socialists, etc. Then the soldiers during war, etc.

After all, it also depends on how the API sends changes. If it sends all incremental changes since the last sync (e.g. using an internal journal), there might be a lot of redundancy. Or it just sends the difference.

Like the sensor's feedback of your drone should be processed at least every 10 ms during landing.

@QPaysTaxes That's indeed quite a floppy d3escription. "Within a guarnteed time-limit" is more appropriate, ther most times is not user involved. Back to your question: you can use an adaptive algorithm: connecte at a lower rate and increase if required, e.g. if you notice an update takes longer than until the next timeslot.

Basically a mixture of push and poll: push until you loose connection, then poll.

Real-time means that when events are triggered, the amount of time it takes to handle them is deterministic.

@BaummitAugen I would not bet on that. In my area there are a lot of people from other countries and I notice the problem the cassiers in the supermarket or other shops have understanding even the most basic sentences in clear English.

Anyway, I'll continue hacking the Bay Area ... :-)

@BaummitAugen It's not only the cassiers, but other employees, too. For example the local bakery, as our variety of different types of bread needs an explanation for wheat-toast-only consumers ... :-)

Are cassiers the same as cashiers?

Many years ago, my sister and I went to a local Asian supermarket looking for frosting for a cake. Not a single employee knew what we were talking about, but they did carry it, and after an exhaustive search we eventually we ran into it.

@BaummitAugen Yes, but they want their white tasteless toast. Problem is our local bakeries often don't even have normal white bread anymore, so they are in big trouble as they have no sponge-bread.

@BaummitAugen Theory and practice: of course all people under - say - 50 are supposed to talk and understand at least some basic English. But reality is different. After all, they had to think and I more and more get the impression thinking hurts most people, so they avoid it. Maybe something genetically?

@Braiam Meh! That#s nonsense. We like a good chit-chat as everyone else does - which means there are some who like it and others who don't. And for honesty - it depends. In the north: yes, in the south: it depends. Worst is the Munich area which has a lot of false friendlyness, too.

@Braiam No. The official world time is based on multiple atomic clocks, spread around the world. And the German PTB clocks have a major percentage, because they are the most accurate and reliable.
