Since this: meta.stackoverflow.com/a/251732/3933332 wasn't written by a mod I'm not sure if I should flag a user if I see him reposting the same answer on a question?
@Tunaki You do it, so that the canonical duplicate gets completely ignored and OP probably won't even look at it. Obvious dupe answers gets lots of upvotes and all are happy. Right? :p
@Rizier123 I tend to vote for deletion with wild abandon but why not let this one be eaten by a grue (my idiosyncratic way of saying "deleted by the roomba").
@Louis I would love to just delete the user here.. I mean he even beats the one from yesterday: stackoverflow.com/q/39416771/3933332 he ""at least"" had a link to an image of his code.
@Rizier123 Oh is there some trigger that comes in when we delete questions that also deletes the user. (I know it happens with spam but there's a more general trigger??)
Can we reword Answering off-topic / bad question in our answers.md. I was more thinking about something like I close voted the question for being off-topic but I see you answered it. Doesn't the question need an edit then to make it a better fit for the site so your answer has more potential to be helpful for future visitors? If so, please do edit the question into shape.
And I don't find the linked meta post to be very supportive of what we claim.
So if there is a better meta post, that could work as well.
But the short, kind of snark, first few words are a bit bugging me.
@AndrewL. We try not to do that, you put a request out there and then it will either be fulfilled or not. If other users want to discuss the reasoning with you that is acceptable as well. Basically you post the request and move on. Otherwise it seems overly aggressive.
@πάνταῥεῖ I think the Latin alphabet was taken entirely from the Greek one. Thing is, there probaby wasn't just one way to write the Greek letters, and the Latin alphabet eventually evolved independently from the Greek one.
@Louis Wasn't Latin taken from Etruscans & Greeks, and Latins wanted to preserve some of Greek letters for reading purposes, so they borrowed a bunch of letters and made it really complicated?
@AndrewL. Hmm... .yes, but the Etruscan alphabet was originally derived from the Greek one. So all the letters the Romans used came from the Greeks directly or indirectly.
@AndrewL. But bringing up the Etruscan influence is a good way to explain why the Latin alphabet does not look like Greek: the Etruscans did their own thing with it before the Romans took it up.
