@earl Well what is happening is, I've got a relatively large codebase that is more or less best thought of as a "snapshot" of a system in a working state that has a large number of differences. So what I do is I'll pick something, and try to patch that one thing in... changing perhaps some definitions. I change the definitions in a semi-strategic way, see what build errors that triggers, and go to my other source and paste what it did to build if I don't see any immediate problem with it.
In general, trusting the me of then to have thought it out, because really if I redo everything questioning the me of then, this will not happen. Beyond not necessarily being able to do it, I don't want to do it.
This is a by-product of the me-of-then's Make_Error being unwilling to take THROWN error values, because such errors don't have objects.
Your point is this can happen, and here is a case, and so what to do about that. Me-of-then was busy formalizing the internal structure of errors.
And me of then wasn't that concerned if an output message like that was suboptimal, as it was fixable relative to the other concerns.
Anyway, you don't see the Make_Error constraint because that change isn't in. These are pieces of the simpler things, to avoid mixing them up in the bigger things.
The concerns that drove the initial desire to pin down Make_Error are likely no longer relevant, given the few entry points...and the check to make sure you don't Make_Error on a thrown-class error can be taken care of in the Trap functions.
Having been bitten now more than once by having the "r3" on my system run instead of the ren-c/make/r3 when the former is in the path, I am renaming the former to "rebol"

@earl With address sanitizer off, I get test segmentation fault at loop 30000000 [make gob! []], which I've moved to be the last test.
It's a bit leaky though, as if you loop through molding the same (unchanged error) N times it will create N objects. I imagine I was also feeling that wasn't optimal.
It's hardly the only place in the system with that issue at the moment, of course.
Lastly, I was wondering if Rebol had a built-in function to convert an integer! to a string! of a certain length, padded with zeros on the left (similar to the /size refinement in to-hex, or Python's zfill()). It's a trivial function to write myself, of course, and I've done so. I was just wondering if I should delete it.
I've decided what Coherence II is. It's when I have no side-enlistments of Rebol, and Ren/C on GitHub contains all the work I have interest in to date.
