I recommend you guys download the chrome extension named Google Dictionary; it's pretty awesome; if you're reading some news article and you're not sure what a word means, you just double click the words and the extension will show you a tool tip with the meaning/definiton

@Mr.Alien well you REALLY have to consider the payback for them. If you are getting a few thousand hits a day, or even a few hundred thousand... you are adding a kb a day in bandwidth usage. in googles case it would be a few GB

so using deprecated (but still rendered) markup to save some space is totally worth it for them
