curators are only affective at curating content when it is new. Once something goes viral we have no tools to deal with it, and for one reason or another we can't seem to get mods to do anything about it either.

It's been around since the 2019 clusterfuck, and more or less just happened. There isn't a super conscious decision about the platform

Lots of users used discord back when the server was made, therefore, discord was picked

So, I came back. And I see the other shoe dropped. It very much seems like Philippe is doing public manipulation there. I mean, what he says does have merit at its core - there is no actual foolproof way to detect AI generated content. No single detector works for it to a very high degree. Detectors are often right but I can buy an "unacceptably high false positive" rate being there. Definitely often enough a detector flags something as fake without that really being the case.

With that said, the solution isn't really to throw our hands in the air and do nothing about it.

It very much feels like the "guidance" is there to tie the hands of moderators.

It sounds good when saying that nobody should go by hunches or other non-concrete evidence but...there is nothing else to go on. Like, here and there somebody posts "This is from ChatGPT" or directly pastes the prompty + reply. That's concrete evidence. But nothing else would technically be acceptable.
