I read what was written here before, I know most people dont even look at the meta posts

I just didnt understand all these downvotes that weren't justified

and all these silly and stupid comments regarding language and other stuff

(im not talking abt the comments regarding the post)

and for the extremely smart candidate that said my nomination was a job application, is coldspeed nomination also a job application? "Hi, my name is coldspeed. I am a 24 y/o grad student at USC, and an incoming full timer at Google."

I don't think it is fair to say that of coldspeed solely because he mentions working at Google as an intern. In some ways, being a Moderator does mean taking on a job, although it is more akin to a janitorial position or community service. Not sure why anyone would call it an actual job application, I don't think that fits.

The expectation for perfection in the questionnaire answers is very high. I firmly believe the downvotes were in reaction to the answers you posted, and had no ulterior motive. Meta can be a brutal place.

There was once a +13/-87 post answering the questionnaire (10k+)

I think there's a bug: I don't see the vote buttons beside the nominations.

@PeterHaddad you have to retry at next election. First time is just to make mistakes and learn from them. Besides, there are always ****** (censored) who try to destabilize you. Be stronger.

It's pretty easy to judge the candidates from a non-candidate point of view anyway and comment. Some were suspended for commenting. I guess noone messes with the elections.

@PeterHaddad I try to let them conclude for themselves whether they are ready or not. Leaving a comment that goes head-first in will only result in defensive reactions.

What lots of people miss with the nominations is explaining why they want to be a moderator, what their goals are, and how they think their election will benefit the site.

It sounds harsh, but we don't really care that much about your personal business. It doesn't matter how old you are, or how long you've been programming, or even how good of a programmer you are (but...Dunning-Kruger effect).

I missed the comments that were made about looking like a job application, but I assume that's what they were getting at, albeit expressed rather poorly.

On the other hand, a job application has similar goals. The employer doesn't really care about you personally. They care about what skills you have, and how that will benefit the company.
