I like it, but I have trouble setting limits, I want to do more than I can/should. Fucked up my knees in november, and now last night I ran again for the first time in a month or so, but had to start out with baby steps doing like 3km

Setup a incrementation in advance and stick to it. Like: 3km for the next 5 times. Increase by 500m and do it 5 times, increase again by 500m and 5 more times etc

I think the most important thing there is patience and consistency

I did make the plans and did a lot of good preparation runs, but when I went for half marathon (my goal then) I went way too far because I planned the route poorly, ended up with 28km instead of 21km. In hindsight it's easy to tell I should have stopped at 21 and walked the rest, but yeah in the moment it was like "this is fine"

paid the price, am recovered now, but have to build it up again from scratch. It's ok, at least no lasting injury

I was successfully rejected on a technical interview... Is it usual for interviewers to ask about generated bytecode and what's the internal management of a volatile field by the JVM (in terms of CPU caching, etc)?

I actually knew those two things (I don't know even why), but I assume it's not that common to face those questions on technical interviews... is it?

the more specific the question the more useless. It is commonly accepted that asking such questions in an interview is a red flag and the company is oblivious as to what it is that programmers do

anything about algorithms, nobody cares

I precisely asked if those specific topics were related to the day to day job content the answer was "No, but those are basic topics that every engineer should know"

In that moment I died inside, cause if every software engineer should know about that, then I should be dumber than I'm actually am
