Some sites have opted to go with no password and just a single use SMS code. Not sure how I feel about that. SMS, in its current form, is insecure, however they are planning to make it encrypted in which case it might be a good solution to the password problem.

I'm not saying to only offer hardware token, offer all three if you want, but don't make it dependent on SMS - someone should be able to set up totp/hotp without sms
A lot of sites force you to set up sms anyways, which is the weakest link here
Totp/htop is a good measure that covers most people reasonably well
it's about the scope of the dependencies, some shouldn't be packaged on the fat jar because they exist on the runtime on which the code is gonna run, so the logical thing is to make them "provided" however the compilation of a project depending on this lib fails because it doesn't find them on the local environment
I never understood why they didn't use words that actually tell you what they do. Now there are some arbitrary words and everybody has to google the meaning
