In general you should avoid adding extra dependencies on your library. However, there are a lot of people who provide Rx helper libs that depend on RxJava so it's not unheard of.

In go, you can pass a channel to multiple goroutines, and they can each send their results back to the thing that needs all the data as soon as each individual routine is done

its similar to android the click listeners and event dispatch thread just like ui thread in android. Even the touch listeners are same. we had drag and drop ui unlike android beginning.

I never really had the chance to build a desktop app

like the singleactivity architecture pattern we used to 1 parent window and other child windows. so its a lot similar to android.

Android didn't reinvent UI patterns, so you can find similar stuff in swing or javaFx
