If the last parameter of a function is a HOF, you can use the syntax you described. It's not actually inline.

I asked about coroutines in slack. Confirmed it's not going to happen in Kotlin 1.3. However, they reassured me that "experimental" does not mean you can't use it in production, but that it has less strict backward compatibility warnings.
Inline means it's not compiled as a function, the code is effectively "replaced" at compilation IIRC. Probably a bad analogy, but that's how I view it.
If you really think the inline functions doc needs to be updated with clarity, let me know. I can make a youtrack issue and volunteer myself to add that explanation. I'm stepping AFK though be back in 10.
it's just that when you call a function like List.map { //dostuff }, you're doing that inline, as in "in the same line", which is why I thought that that is what the inline modifier did

In your coding example though it's bad, because you wouldn't say "inside Scala and Python" but you'd use "in" here.
It's a common language barrier though. For example, we say fly in an airplane, but if you use the French literal translation they say fly on an airplane.
