I have multiple builds variant in my code base like every flavor is for different client who has their own login screen design and colors, when I copy images in drawable folder of particular build it is giving me error for diff build variant 'Resource not found' when I change build variant in Android Studio, so I have to make that image file global. At the time of generating release build that image is going into apk which is not of use for that client. HOw can I prevent this to reduce apk size?

why I put that image in common setup, that image is particular belonging to Client 1 and I am building release apk for Client 2.

Let me tell you a scenario, there are 5 diff build variant, only 1 client need signup process, so I added signup button in login xml file of Client 1 drawable. Now LoginActivity has code 'findViewByID(R.id.btnSignUp)' which is working fine for that selected build varaint but when I change to another, it is giving error while building

man you have to add that activity and xml both in variant specific code

if it's just UI stuff and no different actions, you can put different layout on each variants and keep your activity on the main. If the logic is different, clicks / backend calls etc... create an Activity with the same name / variant dofferent than the base code
