Alright so let's say I have a big list of accounts, each account can have up to 5 (1 to 5) phone numbers associated with it. I need to send text messages to these numbers. Currently I'm creating an Accounts db table, and a Messages db table. But I'm undecided on how I want to store/handle the phone numbers and have 3 choices: 1) have 5 columns, one for each number in the accounts table (with respective columns for status, error code, etc) so 5 + 5 + 5 columns to store phone number, status code, error code for the numbers

I feel like: -option 2 is messier, but saves room in the DB and gets the job done still -option 3 is the cleanest, but could technically be done without a dedicated phone number table
@ballBreaker i would go with 3, more flexible, if today there is a max of 5 phone numbers tomorrow there could be 10 etc.. and a phone number could be registered for 2 people say from the same household (even though it's just a plus, but the main reason is 1, flexibility to extend your model)
the # of numbers doesn't necessarily matter as there would be a foreign key out from either messages or 'phone numbers' table but at the end of the day, your points still stand on the flexibility and expandable
Anytime, and since you don't have gdpr in NA, depending on what your company sells, option 3 could let you cold call new potential customers when a phone number is unlinked from a customer
