Also, yeah, I always found that odd how `.gitignore` works with already committed files.

It would be clearer if there was just a syntax to use inside `.gitignore` to allow the rare cases where you might want a file to be half ignored like that.

hi, I want to add firebase google sign-in to my app and I did it according to this link: firebase.google.com/docs/auth/android/google-signin

but its not working all function are deprecated

anyone please guide me?

Have you tried deleting the .gradle file and your build directory then rebuilding?

@KhalidShehab Also, if I'm remembering correctly, I think I ran into a similar problem with Google stuff because there was a mismatch in dependency versions.

in my case, I think those functions are deprecated almost

onActivityResult(), and startActivityforresult()

My experience with gradle is mostly from using react-native, so I'm not really familiar with the actual Android methods.

Yeah, I'm not really the best person to ask, but figured my suggestions might still help. Especially the deleting .gradle and /build part. It's pretty easy to waste a lot of time trying to fix a problem that doesn't actually exist. haha

It sounds to me like the problem is something with the gradle dependencies. Your code might be fine. What are the exact errors you're getting?

Do any errors show in logcat when you click the button?

because there android studio popping it up with the indicator that its depreceted

@twiz no just the update UI is called and as its null so its printing the message that its null nothing more is happening
