It's to get you initially invested in answering questions so it opens up more privileges on the site, and once you feel invsted you will fall into the sunk cost fallacy and keep answering

once I stopped needing to ask questions on SO I stopped caring about some day needing a bounty

One of the reasons for me to give up on answers was that people were not researching, most of the questions could be easily googled and answered

AsyncListDiffer is a joke, it actually suspends UI thread just to put the work on a worker thread

I expected it to let the UI thread handle various UI interaction while the worker thread do their job and then post the result in the UI looper

Apparently, the UI thread solely waits for the result and then allows various UI interactions

I saw this behavior in the CPU profiler

Even letting the UI thread calculate the diffs 'seems' faster
