@Telkitty don't know what ddms is, but you can find a file using adb shell, as usual, use the "find" utility

The possible search criteria include a pattern to match against the filename or a time range to match against the modification time or access time of the file. there is a android device monitor, you can browse the file system on device from there

You're doing it wrong

public void addItem(BaseItem item) {
    arrayListOfItems.add(item);
}

That will work fine

You can then pass any BaseItem or class that extends BaseItem

But, in that case, we are sending BaseItem itself, not its child. right?

It's the same way how onClick(View v) can receive a TextView, Button, etc. as the parameter

no, there is a problem when inserting it. It says:

add <capture<? extends BaseItem>> in ArrayList can not be applied to (BaseItem)

If i assign a child arraylist to this, it works:

ArrayList<PodcastItem> podcastItems = new ArrayList<>();
ArrayList<? extends BaseItem> baseItems = new ArrayList<>();

then, I can do

void setItems () {
     baseItems = podcastItems;
}

But, why can't I add it directly to ArrayList<? extends BaseItem>?

I can not insert a BaseItem in an arraylist of its children. :) sounds legal. But, I want to. It will make a complete family, won't it?

@rupinderjeet type cannot be inferred, when you assign podcastItems then it knows type is podcastitem (by it I mean the add method) but instead if you were to use ArrayList<BaseItem> I think should be able to add to it. using a capture I think is not right there

Oddly enough, I would've never run into this guy if not for Dogecoin

After finding those 4 year old coins I went and checked out the r/dogecoin page, and this guy had just posted there. I was the only one who saw it before a mod removed the post for being about bitcoin and not dogecoin
