the problem with using metric in the US is that the vast majority of businesses and people use imperial, so it's incredibly hard to go against the grain

but when people are talking about the weather and they say it's like 70 degrees, and my initial reaction is "WTF THAT'S HOT!" then I remember they're not using celsius

I'm still used to mph vs kmh though. When I travel to Dominican Republic I have to adjust.

Ultimately, I would like to be able to switch to the metric system entirely, but in order for it to feel natural, I'll have to follow xkcd's example
