I say this from a place of love, one bi man to another.

I got my new hire packet today. This comes after a background check and drug screen. It's the kind of situation where, even though I've never been arrested, seen the inside of a courtroom, or used drugs (in any recent memory), in worries I just forgot about that time I did a bunch of meth and shot a cop 2 days ago.

8 days of current position left. And I have a very ambitious set of projects on my plate for that time. And I refuse to disappoint.

Are you just trying to avoid saying "When this event occurs, the function returns blah blah" more than once? If so, don't. Don't be cute. Just document.

Q: PHP function that can handle ../ or ./ and returns a real URL path

I would like to create a function consisting of 2 strings. The first is a full link to the source file. The second string is the abbreviation expressed by "../" or "/." And so on (an example is attached) in the very purpose that the function will know how to deal with each situation also with ".....

for queries, that's what we mostly do: gluing together some frontend to spit out nice output :P If you use the query bus you can't automate it that much due to lack of return types/generics

the only issue with this is reflecting the return type of a query pushed to the query bus

But if you put a clear return type on the query itself, and it is not a query DTO but rather the actual query, then it is trivial to reflect this

@amarghodke you told json_decode to convert to everything to array, so there won't be any objects you could access via ->. Also there are only two values with the key jb_product_category_name.

@Ocramius however in real world there are always some queries which will work with some backends, but not with others… I'm aware that's an user side issue from a purist perspective, but practically every larger project employing PDO cannot really substitute backends without running into issues with some queries (exposing vendor-specific extensions/behavior).

I'm generally not a fan of scrapes because people who want you to be able to access their data provide APIs, but if it's literally just a few reqs/mo (or less) then I'm OK with it

scrapers can be a pita to maintain though :-/

imdb do provide limited data dumps that would probably contain all the stuff we need, but we'd have to load it up into a DB
