Would it be possible to use a wildcard with $mtype = finfo_open( FILEINFO_MIME_TYPE );? Because I've tried if($mtype == ( "image/*" )){ but that didn't work. And I honestly don't see myself listing all the possible image mime types there..

Though I guess I could just use strpos() on the return string and see if it starts with image/

like for instance, when I sent this message, it still took a few milliseconds to get transferred to the chat server and then some for processing and rendering… so while that is already pretty close to real time, it has some latency.

when you do an ajax call you usually return the recordset in json or as partial html which you then insert into your page via the completion handler of the ajax request. that will then only refresh that particular part of the page. it will not reload the entire page.
