When I like at my templates the times I need to do <?php ?> are very limited because it's only used for simple ifs and foreaches

It sucks, for example, that at the moment I have to write file data to disk in order to use it in an artax request body. It should be possible for me to pass a "stream" from another artax request body, and the same function should also accept a "stream" from the local file system.
