@Borgleader Seems to be restricted to machines on 10G (or I suppose 100G) networks with RDMA network adapters. That can affect quite a bit of stuff for datacenters, HPC, etc., but not your typical home machine...

@fredoverflow Most people advise against using o (upper or lower case) or l (lower case "L") by itself as a name of a variable (or function, etc.)

But as a rule, 'O' is worse than o (looks more like a zero). Depends on the font though--with a dot or slash in the 0, they're easier to distinguish.

Worst I've dealt with along this like was with Control Data's Fortran compiler, which used a line editor, so each line was preceded by a line number (which the compiler ignored). One line started with something like: C000100, but in the font used by the terminal I had, the C and 0 were the same width and more or less kemmed together. The problem that arose was that Fortran treats a leading C as signifying a comment, and it decided this qualified, so it ignored the rest of the line.

@fredoverflow Line numbers didn't--but it was sort of dual mode. It apparently looked for a digit in column 1, and if it saw that, it assumed it started with a line number, and ignored everything up to the first space. Lacking that, however, it apparently treated it as normal Fortran (no line number), for which a "C" in column 1 means the line is a comment.
