I bought a new Holden Captiva 2-3 years back. Every 9 months I put my car for a $375 capped service. @VermillionAzure it is an official standard but behavior of for example the mutexes vary a lot, I had especially trouble with the stupid stupid part where only the thread that locks a mutex can unlock it which isn't enforced in linux but it is in windows

I never understood that. It takes extra effort to enforce that and limits the use. Why did they do it? Does it make implementations of mutexes better somehow?
