@Mgetz Here all apartments are way too old to install it (square meter is 10k, too, ahem), so if you're not home they don't deliver at all. After some time the package goes back either to the post office or the storage place out of the city. Either case it's a pita to pick it up (post service is very very bad)

Country or city/postcode is somewhat acceptable to have as separate field for dispatching purposes. Anything else is bullshit.

In the UK, if they have the postcode and house number, they can figure out the address.

the databases typically do not distinguish between my place, the place beneath, and the place above, and do not detail the proper entryway, nor the location of the appropriate letterbox, nor the zero means of actually ringing the doorbell.

Speaking as a former professional foodstuffs courier, real addresses can be pretty weird and impossible to locate in the real world

The C++ ecosystem is much richer on windows if you care to have a look around. Linux hasn't much more to offer than old-ass libraries designed for portability (read: for use under windows) and things that we carry round since the 70's

The driver situation only got better because it wasn't possible to make it worse
