I'm sick and tired of people saying "We're accepting of everyone" and overall having the moral high ground of being accepting towards everyone but if you don't meet their opinion criteria they would just be melodramatic or shit all over you.
All I was saying was that my rule is: as long as you don't hurt people in any way, then who cares. So if someone says he/she doesn't like gays, blacks or whatever, I really don't give a crap. It's his/her right to think what they want.
@Rapptz I think it applies to almost everybody to at least some degree--it's only a question of where we draw lines between what we accept and what we don't. Almost nobody is willing to accept things like mass murder as "normal", and (more importantly) most of us probably even agree that anybody who does accept mass murder as normal probably has a serious problem themselves.
One could argue that if we let hate towards races get into society again, then we might risk another nazism-like movement. But if that happens, then I'm not sure I want to live here anymore.
@Rapptz I quite agree--though even expressing an opinion can qualify as an action. Worse, even lack of action can sometimes be at least seen as an action--for the obvious example, if I simply fail to express my dislike of/horror with/aversion to things that somebody dislikes, that's often seen/interpreted as meaning that I actually agree with whatever position it is they dislike. To an extent, I think that may be part of what's happened here.

Well, it probably implicitly agrees with the majority opinion if we were to get technical and count voting. However I don't consider that to be a pure opinion by itself.
If we were in a round table with 5 other people and 2 people said they didn't like dogs and the other 3 said they did but you remained silent what would your default opinion be implied to be?
"I don't like dogs", OK, so there's something wrong with you, but my glass is empty and I'm more interested in who's getting the next round in. If I actually signal, one way or the other, I'm gonna have to wait even longer for my refill.

You can have a degree in medicine and all the qualifications of a doctor. That earns you the right to be called a doctor. But if you don't practice medicine you are not a practicing doctor.
@CliffRibaudo You're right. Google can't really decide which page to show you. But somehow Google has to decide which page to put on top, and which on the second place, etc? It can't possible show you all the thousands, if not millions, of results. @Mysticial For what it's worth, I've never shat on a woman, I don't encourage murder unless I'm the one doing the murdering, and I keep my homophobia to myself for the most part. So less of the global accusations, please!

@LightnessRacesinOrbit I'm pretty sure you don't get to decide if you're homophobic or not. Homophobic is one of those words where other people look at what you say and declare you're homophobic if you don't have just the right opinions.
Heres an question. Why is it okay for puppy to be a dick generally and someone else is not allowed to be homophobic? And by allowed I mean one type of being a dick is seen as much worse than the other. How come?
Guys, being homophobe is proof of having a limited opening of mind, that's it. If these people aren't harming others (physically or verbally), it's pointless to argue about it. You won't change them.
I have noticed you have a tendency to interpret all our most trollsome banter as if it were a blossoming hateful argument when, truthfully, more often than not it's no such thing!

@ParkYoung-Bae And plonking people would have less of a negative impact? I only care about the room in as far as I'm in it. If I'm not here, then I don't care that it's become a cesspool of bigotry and hatred. If I'm going to be here, then the bigotry and hatred will have to go. I can't make it disappear. I can't edit the rules, I can't kick or ban people.
@jalf The problem (in case you're still around to read this) is that most people never even consider the possibility that they are being assholes in the first place, to when you tell them to stop being an asshole, it never occurs to most people that it could apply to them.
