One of my sons (a teenager) went to a friend of his today, hopes high. They bought some food they meant to cook a meal from and planned to watch a movie together, while her parents weren't at home. Yet, when I came home earlier this evening he was here, spirits low. Very low. Apparently, she told him that she feels like this isn't going where she wants it to go, and if he would mind going home. I heard nothing but sad music from his room ever since he told me and withdrew. Sigh.
