Q: ListView repeating selection

I'm trying to make a context menu for my listview, so when a user long press a row, the context menu shows up, and when the user chooses an option, the row gets selected. However a lot of rows are selected, it repeats the selection in pattern for other rows in the listview. The same happens when...

I forced my MBP to run in HDPI just to test the high res version of the theme in HDPI, 'cause otherwise I'd have to do it after I got the thing

So I think I fixed my worry about extra pixels on other resolutions. (dead simple, really, just used layout weights in my custom ViewGroup instead of hardcoding -- should have done that in the first place). @nil, you don't have any Android devices right now, do you?

anyone knows why a selection repeats in the rows inside a listview?

I'm using cursor adapter

I tried handling the click inside bindView method, so the view recycling could work properly, but nothing.

@rogcg did you try toasting each row you touch?

@rogcg: Read into how the ListView ties to the adapter on the back end. You need to handle some state in the data source that denotes its selected state. Then in getView, check that state and set the background based on that state (and be sure to handle both states -- on and off). If you don't handle it on the back end, you're just setting the background color on a View that's going to get recycled and reused later, which is why you're seeing multiple items selected.

Sherlock's a handy library.

Actually, if you're doing selecting, you should just be able to set the selection type to multiple and Android will handle it for you. Haven't done it for a while myself so I don't have any specifics on that.

If things are too quiet, try asking a couple of friends whether "a couple" should always mean "two". As with the question of how many spaces should go after a period, it can turn acrimonious surprisingly fast unless all three of them agree.

As for the alt-text, Anything more than one space after a period is extraneous. Always. (I always Find-Replace [ ]{2,}, [ ] in documents at work).

you should then be able to go to your options and then when you are dont, set the background to that color at the position stored in the temporary variable, then reset the temp variable when the action is completed. That might work for a single selection.

I cant get a View by getting it from a specific position from the ListView, since it returns a SQLiteCursor

When you download an app from the Play Store, Google Play will mark this app as "bought" for $0. It would be weird if users that use your app can download updates for free and other people must pay :)

I only wanted to create a free "ad" version and a paid for ad free version.

First of all, ProGuard shrinks the app size by giving all variables and functions random (short) names

And it obfuscates your code, so nobody can easily hack your app
