However, there are paradigms implemented by dozens of languages that aren't particularly interesting.

currently there aren't many languages that implements that paradigm. Most are provided under form of language extensions (as framework)

another quick git question: I have a directory "foo" which is .gitignore'd, but I want it to be different for two different branches. I can store the two folders elsewhere and store a softlink in the working dir instead and use a git hook (assuming there is something like pre-checkout hook etc.), but is there a better way?

ffs.. I've now blown away postgresql twice and started fresh, created the new users and permissions ... I'm convinced the problem is either with pg or my connection string.

@rlemon the node mongodb driver returns with a promise when you use .connect(). Do you know a nice approach to see if the database can be connected to. I'm thinking to use a bool function canConnect() { } which returns TRUE if the db can be connected or otherwise FALSE.

I've only used mongo once
