@JonClements I'm glad I closed it, I was really not happy with it.. It was a joke thing, that actually took off. So it was 100% my fault.

@DavidArenburg I was the RO of the room. I have tried my best and kept all the links in the room to a minimum. There were no answer links there. Once a week we met to tell how much rep we had. That's the only thing that we did there. Apart from that we told each other our Personal life stories.

I feel that whole rep thing is getting out of hand too often; rep whoring, FGITW, socket puppets, bounty trading, etc. But I guess this is the main stimulator for that site keep going

@DavidArenburg there is a "gamification" system that the SE sites work on - in fact it's quite nice - seeing your "rep" go up in appreciation of something you've done/getting badges for effort - it's a way of kind of realising you're not answering into the void.

It just happens that a side effect is that some people view rep points as more important than the quality of their content and contributions and try to "game" the system.

The system will correct anything completely out of the norm, but since no automation is perfect, that's still why it requires real people to look into things and make their judgement on appropriate actions.
