@Barry The term is not part of the C++ Standard's vocabulary, but I guess everyone commonly understands it as "member function". Pedants may mind it as not being the official term, but it won't be a source of ambiguity IMO.

Also I don't think the word "method" is very good for describing a function. It probably comes from the Smalltalk context where objects send messages to each other and have different "methods" of handling requests, but I still dislike it
