I'm using sockets.io, but the Java app won't speak the same protocol than sockets.io, will it?

If I don't use HTML 5 websockets, how can i deal with the fallback for IE < 10 ?

It's like http. It doesn't matter if it is node.js or java in the backend. They both talk http, despite what your client us using.

@Alvaro I would see what support Java has and try to go with the more traditional approach, though you should be able to do it with sockets.io
