How would I do this simple thing in C#?
I have a generic class `myClass<T>` - and a special version that uses "strings": `myClass : myClass<string>`. Now I wish that these two are actually "equal": that I can freely use `myClass<string>` everywhere I accept `myClass` and, similarly, that I can use `myClass` as an abbreviation for `myClass<string>`.

I tried it with simple inheritance, but it meant that each function that accepted myClass didn't accept a myClass<string> and also myClass as myClass<string> isn't working that way.

@paul23 You can't do that generally, since myClass could extend myClass<string>. If all you want is a shorter name for myClass<string> you can use a using alias.

for background what i am trying to do is create a sortby query

and the string is based off of a button value

so if user presses down arrow button next to name, nameFilter will be equal to "desc" but expirationDatefilter will be null

i havent implemented it yet, i only implemented string ExpirationDateFilter = null. wasnt sure it was possible, because i thought you could only have one be = null

expirationdatefilter works exactly how i want it to

then in the body of index i just do if (expirationdatefilter = '"asc") { orderby } else if (expirationdate = "desc") { orderbydescending }

now that ill be adding in multiple sort filters, im gonna have to rework how im doing it in the body. i feel like having many if else if is not gonna be ideal

i think ill add in first if ( filter = null) { then do the checks on what the filter equals} and do that for each filter

both are getting blocked from being sent out

however i can get it to send through an excel vba macro i wrote. i think its because we are using smtp client and not sending directly through outlook

but the guy sends me the code block in question
