"unlimited vacation/sick time", what does that even mean?

normally it means it's a company tolerant of you not taking the piss

you normally get n many days paid leave

and you're entitled depending on the contract entitled to a certain amount of sick leave at full pay for so many days

but sick days normally count against your employee record

it basically means, you get n many days off with full pay, and statutorily (in the UK), you're legally allowed n many days off due to sickness, but past that, the employer doesn't have to pay you

however, they can't dismiss you for being sick without good reason

but I'm in America ._.
