Note - we raised the minimum rep to ask to 2 from 1 (which should be just enough friction to slow this down) for the next few days. That said, yeah, we're very interested in finding out why that became such a high pressure fire hose. My guess is, people didn't realize that they changed sites after getting the inbox (and possibly email) notification, then proceeded to do what they came to SO to do, which was ask a programming question. Does a question that is edited after being closed automatically enter the reopen vote queue? If so is there a time limit for how long after the post is closed this happens?

@NathanOliver I think as long as a post is "on hold" it's sent to the queue after an edit. After 7 days, the question becomes "closed"

If there is a 7 day limit for the auto entry then that explains it.

@NathanOliver yeah once a question is [closed] then edits no longer auto-enter it into the reopen queue

The theory being a question being [on hold] for a week gives the asker time to edit the question to fix the problems with it
