How do you see what you need to do in order to get the ban lifted?

Keep editing an answering until the ban is lifted.

But you cannot see how much you still have to do.

i accidently deleted a question i later found the answer to, and deleted it to close the question, since i don't know how to self close

Why don't you self answer? You can flag your own question and choose a close reason. Still needs 5 members to follow your vote

I answered in the canonical, but then I cannot mark the new as duplicate because the canonical answers do not have upvotes, nor is there a selected answer in there.

I chose the older because it is a better question and the OP in there does not seem to be that inactive.
