Per "strict mode" in JavaScript, you should use === when comparing values in an if-statement. However, when dealing with truthy/falsy values, this can lead to very long if-statements:

To get around this, I've started using !!
if(!!a ...
but "removing padding from lists" is usually the padding-left: 40px that needs to be removed
the "real canonical" you linked is not about the spacing added by the bullet that indents the text, but I assumed that previously you were talking about the padding-left that "appears" to shift the whole UL over by 40px
