@Hybridwebdev I haven't read your code but just from reading you last line of question "it loads new content in via ajax and then the hover stops working. ". Why don't you just pre-load everything first and add event listener to it, and hide/reveal them using CSS / jquery

I felt railroaded on the question since they just got a fifth round of funding and are trying to scale to enterprise.
