you need to create rectangles around each point

invisible ones

with a mouse over even handler that draws their respective line and label

first get the lines done

then the lables

the overall strategy should be like this:

1. create 'g' element

2. put an invisible rectangle in it

3. put a line in it

do that for each point

move the 'g' elements to where they should be
