- There are always concrete specifications
- Bugs? Changing Requirements? Users? These are all foreign concepts to me.
What I learned in my first job:
- Hack at it until the client stops bitching.

i can get the dialog box to work. now i just need to give it something to do

if you have some page

so, if they confirm, just $.get the page?

that sends a request but doesn't process it

what does page.php respond with

it triggers a process to update records as "archived".

if use doesn't want to, then just leave page as is

this would send the request, and after the request is complete, it closes the dialog

well, no. not really. if they want the records archived then for now, it's all or nothing. No records will be returned

for page.php it appears as $_POST["hello"] === "1"` and so on

yea but how does page.php know what records to archive even

If you have a server-side action that has a side effect (like archiving a bunch of stuff, or deleting stuff, or whatever), then it really should be a POST and not a GET, even if you don't have any meaningful data to send...

functionally, user is pulling in a record set, updating them, then pushing out to xml. @ChrisNielsen thanks. that's a good point

once records are updated, they're done. we just want to keep them around for archive purposes.

haven't got a spec for doing anything with them after the fact

one gotcha is that user can click the button multiple times before the request completes

that would send multiple requests

I think, I don't really use jQuery UI

appreciate the walk through. @Esailija yea, not sure if that'd cause a problem or not. i can test a use case for it
