if i have a view pager with 3 fragments, and two of those fragments use the same layout xml, but one fragment has a view gone, the other has it visible - is... is that xml recycled between both fragments? i have views magically disappearing when i swipe

i just got off a call where a guy was having issues with the app, turns out he was typing in the network SSID in all lower case when it had some upper cases

So I found something quite interesting... Making a service into a foreground service without a notification.

You need 2 services for this. Start the main one, and make it a foreground service. Make note of the notification ID. Then start a dummy service as a foreground with the same notification ID, then call stopForeground(true); on its onDestroy() method. Stop the dummy service.

A quick check of adb shell dumpsys activity services shows that your service is still alive and in the foreground.

Looks like it's been known for a while...
