So far, zooming works alright

No, just the background, which is like a map.

I used a linear function to make sure that the farther you zoom out, the harder it becomes to scroll

I was using tiled, and going +1 tile for the character is hard, because its too far so he needs to go less than 1 tile, and then if your character's size is greater than 1 tile then it complicates it more

So if you zoom way out, you can't just flick your finger and send the whole map offscreen.

I wanted the view to follow the character, with him in the center and then if the edges were coming into view then it stops, i think i got it all working but it was a mess

It will only move a bit. But if you zoom way in, it becomes far easier to scroll

I'm trying to stop my sprite from going offscreen

It's a bit of a challenging issue.

Unfortunately I haven't yet worked with Sprites. But I do drink Sprite a lot on daily basis.

For one, you can zoom way into the sprite, so it should be allowed to have it's corners go offscreen as you zoom in. But you can't have it go offscreen either. (You shouldn't be able to move the whole thing offscreen)

This means I'll have to stop any corner from going offscreen

Which is problematic because I have four corners to deal with, and now I'll have to put them all in an array, and check which one is closest to the center of the screen (Which will indicate where it's going), then stop it from going completely offscreen by tracking that corner.

However, it's an awful lot of work.

And it seems an unnecessary burden to deal with it like this.

I'm considering just allowing a triple tap to bring it back on screen or something

Do you think that would be acceptable?

You can zoom in so that it fills up the screen. This means that preventing corners from going offscreen cannot be solely the solution. Since when you zoom in, obviously, the corners will go offscreen. However, if you were to zoom out and move it towards the edge, you could have to check which corner was closest to the middle. This would mean it's going offscreen, then make sure you follow that corner and move it back if it gets too close to the opposing side.

Or make sure no corner goes off it's opposite side, although that wouldn't work too well, because by then, it would be mostly offscreen. .

Tap to bring it back looks easiest solution.

If the user taps, it just fires a function that brings it back with an animation from whereever it is.

tap and automatically coming back would be best. If not, tap would work IMO.

Lastly, I've made it harder and harder to scroll the farther out you scroll. This means that if you are zoomed all the way out (As I allow), you can no longer move the grid at all.

I would say it's somewhere around 6.5 to 7.

I also think there's so many little stories that made me feel like watching 4 different series.

Like for example, I don't have any idea why they are still showing Jon Snow for 4 seasons when absolutely nothing happened to him that relates to the main story.

Also as hot as that girl with the dragon is, she also has not connected to the main story at all.

And because there are so many characters, I think I lost focus on which story is important.
