one thing I wanted to point out, even though my PR changed it, is you should generally throw an exception from a switch's default case

you had NONE fall through to the default case

I'd argue that a switch falling to the default case is exceptional, usually a programmer error. np, it forced me to update AS on this laptop lol.

like you can't re-use the same span object multiple times in the same SpannableString

that's partly why pushing the logic into the enum helps a lot

once the size of the setSpan method was reduced, it was easy to spot that

it's a little more verbose, but you'll never make a mistake if you want to add a new span style in the future

since it will force you to implement the abstract method
