what's the usual way of passing credentials to REST service?

Now I have one-time login which returns a random UUID, which user passes to server with every request, and it requests refresh when server returns 401 (every 15mins); server can deny refresh, and then user needs to re-log, if UUID is too old (like a day or two)

also, should I pass it in URL, or form, or in any other third way (and does it even matter)?

Oh, i see, yes the sessionId is usually sent in the http header

Having a sessionId authenticates you to the server, so you should avoid putting it in the URL or in POST requests, although https blunts a lot of that.
