Age is just a number, degree helps prove competency but that can also be proven with example code and job experience. 4 years of experience can often be more desirable than 4 yr degree and no experience.

thats good enough to get into most state schools, not sure about the "really good" ones. ASU had a top 50 engineering school and it's all my folks would pay for. I didn't really qualify for scholarships as a white male with B+ish grades.

I had a poor first few years at ASU cause I was getting the partying out and the classes weren't what I was interested in, then the last 2 years it was all CS and my scores skyrocketed. Made sure when applying that my GPA was accompanied by GPA in classes for my major and GPA my last 2 years. both of which were significantly higher than the overall.
