From a huge JSON file, I want to read 2-3 values only... I tried Jackson but it seems to give an error, then when I tried with GJSON, it looks like I have to create a whole class to convert it into an object before I can use it... It doesnt worth it since I only need 2-3 fields from it... Any suggestions maybe ?

When you check that, you can take a look at the things that can be null there

The stack traces have a lot of useful information. Learn to read them

when separating the object creation (blah) and teh adding to the list, it indicates the error here: "selection.add( blah );"

1) You're popping up a JOptionPane in the main thread. You should be doing it via the EDT

2) Your encapsulation is very poor. things like

        ShoppingCart.cart.add(inventory.get(indexProduct));

Mean that you don't have a good handle on objects and flow

A shopping card should not be a static thing

because it's not available to everyone - there should be one instance of the cart for each transaction

Except: don't declare multiple variables on a single line, that's never done in Java

ie:

private final String name,
        description;
private final int price;

should be:

private final String _name;

private final String _description;

etc

I wanted to use TimeUnit, because I know what it does, originally I wanted to use seconds, but it was too slow

So I ended up going with it anyway instead of thread.sleep()

I'm setting up a VM and it has IntelliJ and Eclipse installed in it.

The VM will be passed out to other developers and each will probably create a User account for themself

So I want the repository to be located outside of the user folder and in a public area where it is shared

Hmm I see. I don't know if I can help you but it's the POM file for the project that I think you edit that kind of information in.

While you wait for someone who knows what they're talking about you could play around with that?

I've never made a POM before and the one I have now was auto created by the Maven command so the initial auto creation puts files into a location I don't want whereas with the POM that was auto created I don't see any path specified that I can alter to make it go to a shared folder location.
