I had a question. I recently read about setting up smtp servers on my servers to send emails to my users.

I read about postfix, and was wondering, how's it different from using a simple mail() function to send confirmation emails to users.

I also checked out PHPMailer.

i run postfix and dovecot for smtp and imap

@JoeWatkins i found the problem with pthreads and win32....

@JoeWatkins it throws an ETIMEDOUT which means "abstime elapsed before success."

What will be your recommendation for sending out confirmation email to about 1000 users everyday? @Stricted

if you only need to send mails then is postfix (smtp) enough

@MazharIqbalRana As state in my answer of your post i work with korean chars on a daily basis and I never had any problems with this is everything is correctly set to utf 8

have you tried to run the query directly in a DB managment software ?

mysql workbench or sequel pro ?

that would be my first test: run your query outside your code and see if you get results

if not try to change the collation to the arabic one

how will it be for both english and arabic because here preg_match is for english only unable to put for arabic

the problem is it throws it too early

you said before your collation is utf8_unicode_ci have you tried utf8_general_ci ?

what f you do a simple select with a where and not a like statement

no this is an option of your mysql DB
